Will someone please explain this to me?

I work at a bookstore.  My job is to sell books, memberships, answer questions, find books, and put things back where they belong.  Seems logical, right?

So will someone PLEASE explain to me WHY it is so strange, abnormal, and unfavorable of me to ACTUALLY take the time to straighten the comic books so that I can put away a 2 foot tall stack of comic books?  I mean, is it so hard to understand that in order to put the stack of comics up I first need to put the rest of them in some semblance of order?

And I got the same weird looks when I wanted to put other sections back in actual alphabetical order.  You know, if we actually took the time to do the job properly, we would be able to find the books for the customers, unlike our current state of affairs.  So why do I keep getting looks like I'm a purple alien with 16 apendages?

Arg. Why is retail so fucked up?

I really am disgusted with them.  But it is a job when I can't find another one yet, and they are helping to pay my bills until I can either get a better job or get into grad school.  But it sure is a letdown.  I thought a bookstore would be a cooler place to work.

:( Sad face.

The eighties were known as the Me decade. The nineties have been called the Electronic age. So far, what would you label this decade?

The Emo decade.

Writer's Block: Surfin’ Safari

Do you bring your laptop on vacation? Is it to do work or homework or just for the joy of surfing/connecting?

I bring it along for journaling purposes, as well as surfing the internet.  But the most important is so that I can look busy so that when my relatives get annoying, they think I'm working so they leave me alone.  YAY!

Hello, my bit and byte friends...
Okay, I'm going to apologize in advance...
This will be a rant... nothing else...
And it's a very long and complicated story.  So if you have a bucketfull of free time and patience, please, by all means, go ahead and read the rest of this... Otherwise, feel free to ignore me. After all, I won't know the difference.

I have this friend from high school. Her name is Jessica.  Jessica is one of those girls who is in love with being in love..Read more...Collapse )

ARGH!!!  and for those of you who knew me in high school, Please! if you see jessica, let her tell you all of this, because I'm not sure how much of this she's admitting to to other people...

Writer's Block: It's me, not you

Have you ever broken off a relationship with a friend because it was unhealthy for your self-esteem? Were you proud of your decision or did you regret it?

Yes, It was too tiring and too wearing to be around that person.  After a while, I just felt like I was afraid to come into contact with her, because I would always feel like it was a horrible day after talking to her.  I'm not proud that I'm not friends with her anymore, but I feel like it was neccessary for my sanity and well-being.

I'm alive!

I am alive, I swear! This is not a message coming to you from the great beyond...

So my life... is kinda boring right now...
I've been writing- that's not so boring until you consider the amount of time I spend in my chair on my computer typing...
I get to go looking for a long term health insurance package cause my short term is going to be up shortly...
I've been good about taking my walks recently-- cause I have to get my fat ass out of the chair some time!

Ooh, I've been baking!-- which means I have to walk more, ah, the vicious cycle!

I finally finished knitting a scarf I started last winter! YAY for accomplishing things in a timely manner!

I have no job-- still-- but dammit! I swear I'm gonna get one so I can get a paycheck and start saving for an 1) Vehicle 2) Appartment 3) Grad School Degree

But hey, it's okay, I'm writing what I want at the moment, and I cook dinner instead of pay rent, it's not so bad after all!

Yay! I switched out the dead modem for a live one!
Woot! The internet lives!

Yeah, but now I need to go back to writing before I get REALLY distracted.

The modem broke...
I'm at the library, using borrowed internet...

I miss it!

Side note: Rejon's art show was really cool!
And it was great to see lots of people that I hadn't seen in a while.
So much fun!

And Erin's cat was very loving this weekend, very unfeline... but so cute!

Panic Attack Time

Okay, so I've been thinking about the future...
(Thank you, small town Georgia with ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY NOTHING TO DO)

I've been looking at Grad schools, trying to narrow down my choices...
I've about decided that the closest thing that what I want to study falls under is the MA and PHD programs in English Language and Literature with a heavy emphasis on the literature...

I think I've got my current list sort of settled

1) Stanford University in California
2) University of Michigan at Ann Arbor
3) University of Wisconsin- Madison
4) University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Problem is... Some of them are kinda expensive!
And some of them force you into specializing in a type of English literature (Which would mean I would be stuck studying specific genres that I'm not sure I want to study... Like British Literature or American literature of specific eras

So, If anyone can give me some advice, reccomendations, devout rejections, whatever...

Help, please!
